Society Sustainability

(1) Respect for Human Rights

We recognize that respect for human rights is the foundation for realizing a sustainable society and an essential value shared by all humankind. We will make every effort to prevent and mitigate human rights risks in our business activities, instill and fully implement our Human Rights Policy in our business activities, fulfill our corporate responsibility to respect human rights, and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.

Human Rights Policy

ROCKY-ICHIMARU hereby establishes its Human Rights Policy in order to respect the human rights of all stakeholders and contribute to the development and realization of a sustainable society.

1. Basic concept

Based on our Corporate Philosophy, which states that “We will promote the evolution of manufacturing in order to contribute to a sustainable society,” ROCKY-ICHIMARU respects the human rights of all stakeholders involved in its business activities in accordance with international norms on human rights, the Basic Sustainability Policy, and this Policy.

2. Compliance with international norms and applicable laws and regulations

ROCKY-ICHIMARU adheres to the principles set out in the International Bill of Human Rights* and the ILO (International Labour Organization) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work. We also respect the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, and the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact.
*Consists of the “Universal Declaration of Human Rights,” the “International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights,” and the “International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights”

3. Scope of application

This Policy applies to all officers and employees of ROCKY-ICHIMARU.
We also ask all of ROCKY-ICHIMARU’s business partners and related parties to understand the purpose and content of this basic policy.

4. Human rights issues related to business activities

ROCKY-ICHIMARU recognizes that addressing the following human rights issues related to its business activities is an important element of its human rights responsibilities: Respect fundamental human rights, promote diversity, and strive to develop and utilize a diverse group of human resources.

  • Respect individual human rights and diversity. Furthermore, do not discriminate on the basis of nationality, race, religion, age, sex, disability, ideology, etc.

  • Do not recognize any form of modern slavery, including forced labor and child labor.

  • Do not condone acts that cause physical or mental pain, such as harassment.

  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations concerning working hours and wages in the countries and regions in which we operate. Strive to achieve wages that enable our employees to meet their basic needs.

  • Review and confirm laws and regulations regarding workplace safety and health and the status of their implementation in order to create a safe and healthy working environment.

  • Respect the privacy of each individual and handle personal information with extreme care.

  • In each region in which we operate, comply with the laws and regulations of each country and respect local cultures and customs.

5. Human rights due diligence

We will establish human rights due diligence mechanisms to identify, prevent, and mitigate issues.

6. Internal reporting system

We have established an internal reporting system that enables all employees to promptly report any violation of laws, regulations, etc., that may occur. In addition, we will protect the anonymity of the whistleblower and ensure that they are treated fairly.

7. Dialogue with stakeholders

In the course of carrying out our initiatives under this Policy, ROCKY-ICHIMARU will draw on human rights expertise from independent external institutions and engage in dialogue and consultation with relevant external stakeholders.

8. Remedies

ROCKY-ICHIMARU does not tolerate or condone human rights violations in any part of its business or supply chain. We will take any and all allegations that human rights are not being properly respected seriously and will take the necessary measures to correct this. We also require our suppliers to effectively address any human rights issues they may have and encourage them to take corrective action.

9.Communication and education

ROCKY-ICHIMARU will continue to provide all officers and employees with the education and training necessary to implement the basic policy. We will also work to instill this basic policy among all our stakeholders.

  • Eliminating harassment (continuous employee training)

  • Creating a corporate culture of psychological safety

(3) Creating a Workplace Environment Where a Diverse Range of Human Resources Can Thrive

  • Developing an environment that gives consideration to diversity (elderly and female employees are active at manufacturing sites)

(4) Enhancing the Employee Education System and the Career Path (Reskilling) System

  • Initial education through OJT to acquire technical skills

  • Support system for the acquisition of qualifications related to business with costs borne by the company

  • Skill evaluations and follow-up guidance for each employee (rank-based training system)

  • Creating a system for “voluntary skill development” through work improvement and idea proposal systems

  • Active participation of female employees
